On Thursday 13th July we visited the Secret Diner at Sudbury Open Prison, a cafe on the prison campus which provides training and experience for inmates.
There were 52 of us, including our lovely driver Chris from JB Tours, and we arrived safely at the prison at 12pm. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our tables, where delicious, piping hot food was served within minutes. Staff at the restaurant were patient and courteous with our guests. Then came the highlight – puddings! It was just like school dinners but better.
After lunch we had a stroll around their mini garden and craft centre before we embarked for our next destination, Derby Garden Centre at Little Eaton, where guests chose whether to enjoy a cuppa with friends or some retail therapy.
