After a disappointing start to the year with the weather causing our get-togethers at Dog & Parrot and bowling sadly having to be cancelled, we finally got to enjoy some fun together last week!
Our first Plumptre Hall session of the year was a real success. Whilst carers were able to receive some valuable information from Alison of the Carers Hub Service, the rest of us enjoyed a lively “Singalong with Ellie” which certainly helped chase away those winter blues.
On Thursday 15th January we also enjoyed our annual trip to Nottingham Playhouse to see Sleeping Beauty. As usual, Chris, our bus driver, arrived in good spirits and helped those with less mobility to board the bus. Some of us enjoyed a cuppa or a pint before being shown to our seats on the front rows by the friendly, caring, patient staff who never cease to amaze us.
As always, the performances from the show were magical with highlights being the dazzling sets, vibrant music and outstanding performances, especially from Dame Nelly, who managed to get through the show despite lots of heckling and flirty banter from our very own Nige (the luckiest man in the audience)! The singing was second to none and the comedy was hilarious, with lots of references to local areas which made us all laugh out loud. We can’t wait to return next year.
