Well, where to start?!…
World Rocks Against Dementia, our annual concert, took place on Saturday 16th March and was another roaring success.
It was a sell-out event with 200 people coming together at St. Mary’s Church to watch some wonderful performances and raise money for Eastwood Memory Cafe.
Once again, the concert was organised by the amazing Simon Thompson of Everyone Can Sing, whose passion for music is infectious. Simon has supported Eastwood Memory Cafe for many years now in addition to fundraising for many other good causes and charities.
The event was opened by Kathryn Boam, Eastwood Town Council Mayor and co-owner of the Dog & Parrot pub in Eastwood, whose team have always welcomed us with open arms and looked after us.
We were treated to brilliant performances from Everyone Can Sing, Oldish Spice, and Phoenix Signers. Thank you to all the members of these local choirs for giving your time and sharing your talents.
We were incredibly grateful to Elle, Wendy, Clara and Elsie for kindly creating and gifting three beautiful hampers as our raffle prizes. In addition, thank you to our local stores, Morrisons Eastwood and Co-op Kimberley – as well as EMC volunteers – for providing refreshments.
We would like to thank everybody who bought a ticket for World Rocks Against Dementia 2024 and made the day such a success – it was wonderful to see so many people turn out to enjoy an afternoon of music whilst supporting Eastwood Memory Cafe.
Last but not least, our volunteers went above and beyond, as they always do, to ensure the day ran smoothly and that everyone was catered for. Thank you to our amazing team and everyone who makes a difference to lives affected by dementia.
